Keep your eye on Robert Frahm. I first encountered him a couple years ago at a Bad Influence gig at JV's. Legendary guitarist Steve Jacobs was filling in for Mike Tash and had his student, Robert, sit-in on a few songs. Picture two screaming guitars firing thru vintage Super Reverbs in a small room like JV's. The student was ready to show his teacher that it was time to graduate.
I kept running into Robert at the Zoo Bar and Lasick's jams. Eager to learn and gain experience, he jumped onstage with the best of DC.Robert plays with an old soul. His tone is thick & sweet, but with a kick. No wasted notes, ego-driven flashiness, or gimmicks. Just pure Blues.
